Coach Gerardo Barrios is a USA Triathlon Certified Coach, USA Cycling Level 2 Coach, and ASCA Swimming Certified Coach with more than 30 years of experience in athletic development, education, and leadership. He began coaching endurance athletes in 2007, earned his USA Triathlon certification in 2008, and founded Fortius Coaching in 2010, building a community rooted in supportive, sustainable training.

Gerardo has helped more than 225 athletes finish full Ironman races and has coached numerous triathletes to qualify for the Ironman and Ironman 70.3 World Championships. He has also supported many runners in achieving Boston Marathon qualifying standards and has guided a wide range of ultra-distance athletes—from first-time marathoners to athletes racing 50K, 50-mile, 100-mile, and 200-mile events.His coaching approach is grounded in The Fortius Blueprint, an adaptive training framework that balances science, teaching, and real-life practicality to help athletes progress with confidence.

As an athlete, Gerardo has completed over 90 triathlons, is a six-time Ironman finisher, a four-time Ironman 70.3 World Championship qualifier, and a six-time Boston Marathon qualifier. His own racing background allows him to coach with understanding and clarity, helping athletes navigate the physical and mental demands of endurance sport.

Gerardo leads weekly swim practices and community training sessions in Los Angeles, providing consistent technique feedback and a supportive team environment. He is dedicated to helping athletes become stronger, healthier, and more resilient—on the race course and in everyday life.

About Kelly

Kelly Barrios is the team’s outreach manager, run coach and run leader. Kelly has been racing triathlons since 2011 and has completed all distances including two ironman events and multiple running and ultra running events. Kelly leads regular training runs at the track and on the trails.

Class Schedule:

Strength Training: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 5:00am

Trail Running: Sunday 7:30am

About Ray

Ray Barrios is the team manager and also an RRCA Certified Running Coach who has completed 6 Ironman events, 30+ marathons and multiple ultramarathons including a 100 miler. Ray provides day to day operation assistance to our team members including calendaring events, working with team sponsorships and partnerships and directing our training camps. Ray also lead team runs and running workshops.
